Мать — учитель танцев Джен Кларк-Фьюджит, отец — инженер-электрик Брюс Фьюджит. У Патрик есть младший брат Колин и младшая сестра Джослин. Уже в 11 лет он играл в летнем театре университета Юты.

Дебютировал в кино в 1997 году. Стал известен благодаря роли в фильме «Почти знаменит», за которую был номинирован на множество наград. Играл заметные роли в фильмах «Белый олеандр», «Мёртвые птицы», «Самоубийцы: История любви», «Исчезнувшая» и других.
