The action of the movie takes place in 1844 when the samurai Akayo arrives in Ukraine to escape the wrath of the Japanese Emperor. By the will of fate, he meets young Taras Shevchenko. Soon they join forces with different goals: the samurai wants to avenge his master, and Shevchenko wants to save his beloved.
