For many years, the Cossacks have been defending the Ukrainian people from all sorts of misfortunes, risking their lives and blood. Therefore, if they died fighting for justice, all their sins would be forgiven and there would be no Cossack soul in hell. But the devil would not be the devil if he did not try to change this order. He was upset that he hadn't seen a Cossack for many years in his life, so he made a bet with the Apostle Peter that he could capture the best and bravest Cossack, whose name was Semyon, and hold him until Christmas.
