Родился 12 декабря 1926 года. В 1953 году окончил ВГИК (мастерская С.А. Герасимова и Т.Ф. Макаровой).В 1953-1988 годах — актёр в Театре-студии киноактёра, с 1988 года — актёр театра-студии "Время".
Дебют в кино — тракторист в фильме "Сельский врач" (1951). В 1950-1970 годы достаточно много снимался.
Владимир Петрович Маренков ушёл из жизни в Москве 25 апреля 2003 года после тяжёлой болезни. Похоронен на Ваганьковском кладбище.
