Родился 8 октября 1909 года в деревне Ново-Харитоново под Москвой.В 1928 году окончил керамическое училище, до 1933 года работал по специальности. В 1933-1937 годах – актёр студии "Постройка", с 1937 года – актёр театра Морфлота, затем – 1-го Колхозного театра в Москве.Во время Великой Отечественной войны – актёр фронтовых театров.С 1953 года – актёр Театра-студии киноактёра в Москве.

Заслуженный артист РСФСР (1953).

Ушёл из жизни 4 октября 1990 года в Москве. Похоронен актёр на Хованском кладбище (Северная территория, участок № 214).
