Родился 26 марта 1990 года в Сеуле, Южная Корея. Окончил Chung Ang University. Во время учебы в пятом классе семья Чхве переехала в Канаду, где он провел целых десять лет своей жизни. В 2011 году парень вернулся в Корею, чтобы пройти прослушивание и начать свою актерскую карьеру в исторической драме "Дуэт". Свои первые главные роли Чхве получил в фильме "Освободи меня" и дораме "Любовь Хо Гу".
