Он получил первую известность благодаря роли Дэймона Миллера в дневной мыльной опере ABC «Все мои дети» в 2009—2011 годах, а с тех пор переместился в прайм-тайм с гостевыми ролями в «Мыслить как преступник», «Закон и порядок: Специальный корпус» и «Мастера секса». В 2014 году, после роли в телефильме «Обычное сердце», Уиттрок присоединился к четвёртому сезону сериала FX «Американская история ужасов».

Уиттрок родился в Леноксе, штат Массачусетс и окончил Джульярдскую школу. 18 октября 2014 года Уиттрок женился на своей подруге Саре Робертс.
