Антон Шагин родился 2 апреля 1984 года в городе Карачев (Брянская область).После 9-го класса с бабушкой (к тому времени родителей не было) приняли решение, что пойдет учиться в ПТУ. Учился в ПТУ на слесаря в городе Карачеве. Участвовал в самодеятельности. После окончания ПТУ поехал в Москву поступать в школу-студию МХАТ. Поступил с первого раза.В 2006 году окончил Школу-студию МХАТ (курс И. Золотовицкого и С. Земцова).Лауреат Театральной премии «Золотой лист» 2006 года за лучшую мужскую роль в спектакле Школы-студии МХАТ «С любимыми не расставайтесь».
