Хан родился 30 ноября 1962 в Джайпуре, Раджастхан, Индия в мусульманской семье. Его мать, Сайида Бегум, была из Тонк Хакима, а его отец, покойный Джагирдар, был родом из деревни Хаджурия, вблизи района Тонк, и занимался шинным бизнесом. Хан учился на степень магистра, когда он получил стипендию для обучения в Национальной школе драмы в Нью-Дели в 1984 году.
