Он окончил Калифорнийский университет, получив степень в области радио/телевидения/фильмов. Его наиболее известные фильмы (как сценариста): «Беглец» (с Харрисоном Фордом в главной роли), «Чёрная дыра» (как режиссёра и сценариста) и сиквел «Хроники Риддика». Он также написал скрипт и сценарий видеоигры Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay для Microsoft Xbox. Он снялся в роли-камео британского капитана спасательного судна в фильме Below.
