Родилась 4 марта 1968 года в Хаунслоу. (Большой Лондон, Англия) в семье Джеймса Генри Кенсита (1915—1987) и Маргарет Роуз Кенсит (девичья фамилия — Духэн; 1947—1993). Есть старший брат.
В 1986—1988 гг. Пэтси участвовала в британском поп-проекте Eighth Wonder. А такие синглы в её исполнении, как Stay With Me, I’m not Scared, When The Phone Stops Ringing, были довольно популярны в Европе.
