Родился 21 сентября 1945 года в Детройте в семье еврейских эмигрантов из Германии. Окончил университет штата Аризона, начал работать в рекламном бизнесе. С начала 1980-х годов работает кинопродюсером. Вместе с Доном Симпсоном продюсировали высокобюджетные фильмы для кинокомпании Paramount Pictures. На данный момент спродюсировал 69 фильмов.
