Вырос в Лос-Анджелесе, закончил Сиракузский университет. После окончания присоеденился к Wizan/Black Films в 1990. Джейсон был вице-президентом Mandalay Entertainment, подразделения Sony Pictures Entertainment с момента создания компании в 1995 года. В апреле 1998 года Блюменталь и его партнер Тодд Блэк создали Black& Blu Entertainment.
