Родился 20 апреля 1959 года в Вербанке, Калифорния, США в семье актеров Рэнса и Джин Ховардов.

Учился в школе "R. L. Stevenson Elementary in Burbank".

Впервые появился на телеэкране в возрасте четырех лет. В 60-х годах часто появлялся в телесериалах, а также участвовал в озвучивании мультфильмов. Повзрослев, Клинт не покинул киноэкран, как это часто бывает с актерами-детьми, а легко перешел на взрослые роли.

В 2002 году Клинт Говард был удостоен награды MTV Movie Award за пожизненный вклад в кино.
