Родился 12 августа 1929 в г. Иршава, Закарпатской области на Украине в семье служащего.

Окончил актерский факультет Всесоюзного государственного института кинематографии (1955).

Закончив институт в 1955 году, был распределен в штат Киевской киностудии имени Довженко, но, из-за отсутствия жилья, пробыл там совсем недолго. В декабре он вернулся в Москву.С 1955 по 1957 гг. — работал в Московском Театре-студии киноактера.

С 1957 года — актер Киевской киностудии имени А.Довженко.
