Режиссер, сценарист, актер, продюсер.Народный артист Украины (1983).Окончил актерский факультет Харьковского театрального института (1950), затем режиссерский факультет того же института (1953).Работал театральным режиссером. С 1957 — режиссер, сценарист, актер Киевской киностудии имени А.Довженко. Автор ряда кинопубликаций, педагог КГИТИ имени И.К. Карпенко-Карого. С 1969 — Секретарь правления СК Украины.
