Настоящее имя - Элина Алиса.

Дебютировала в кино в 1956 году в фильмах: "Tyttö tuli taloon" (секретарша Лулу) и "Rintamalotta" (Соиликки). В 60-е годы была признана самой популярной актрисой Финляндии за десятилетие.

Среди лучших ролей - Онерва в драме Яакко Паккасвирта "Поэт и муза" (1978, Премия Юсси", 1979), мать в ленте "Девушка со спичечной фабрики / Tulitikkutehtaan tyttö" (1990, Премия "Юсси", 1991, реж. Аки Каурисмяки), в драме Аки Каурисмяки "Вдаль уплывают облака" (Роува Сёхолм, 1997, Премия "Юсси", 1998).

С 1967 года - на сцене театра Лиллен.
