Аарон окончил среднюю школу округа Шелбиruen. Затем он поступил в Алабамский университет в Бирмингемеruen, где получил степень бакалавра искусств.
Аарон с детства решил, что хочет писать комиксы, после того, как его двоюродный брат Густав Хэсфорд, написал полуавтобиографический роман «Старики» (1979).
