Родился 5 ноября 1939 года в Ковале, Польша.
Окончил Высшую театральную школу в Кракове в 1965 году, позднее преподавал в ней. Играл в театре, в том числе в спектаклях А.Вайды. В 80-е годы выступал как театральный режиссер в Будапеште.
В кино с 1963 года. Снимался не только в Польше, но и за границей, в том числе в Венгрии, играл во многих фильмах венгерского режиссёра Марты Месарош.
