В 1955 году окончил Академию драматического искусства в Варшаве.Работал во многих варшавских театрах.
Актерскую карьеру совмещал с социальной и политической деятельностью, он являлся председателем Совета Союза деятелей культуры и искусств, членом парламента от Народной Республики. В 80-е годы был связан с оппозицией.
