In 1908, Charles Freer, Chester Beatty, and John Pierpont Morgan travelled to the Middle East in search of early Christian texts. They managed to find a number of early biblical manuscripts and scrolls that had been lost for several centuries. But when all the texts were gathered together and deciphered, they completely overturned the understanding of the New Testament and Christianity. Having set out in search of the truth in order to strengthen their faith, Freer, Beetle, and Morgan discovered facts that contradicted their understanding of the Bible.
