Professor John Koestler gets an encrypted passage forecasting the collapse of human civilization written in 1959 by a schoolgirl Lucinda dictated by the aliens who tried to prevent the destruction of mankind. A number of circumstances make the professor believe in the reality of the forecast and apply the full force of his intellect to search for the missing information, and to prevent the predicted catastrophes.
