Almost two decades ago, Owen Strand was the sole survivor of the Manhattan fire station during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. After the attack, Owen had the difficult task of rebuilding his unit. After a similar tragedy befell the Austin fire station, Owen and his troubled firefighter son, T.K., bring their progressive philosophical views on life and firefighting to Texas, where they help them start over. On the outside, Owen is all big city, glamour and confidence, but on the inside, he struggles with a secret he hides from the world — a secret that could cost him his life.
