The film is based on a true story when a football team Manchester United died in a plane crash at Munich Airport in 1958. In spite of Federation prohibitions the England Champs achieved permission to play in the new UEFA Champions League. In order to make everything in time they were forced to take flights that were at a risk area at that time. Football world was in mourning. Luckily, the future great player and 1966 world champion Sir Bobby Charlton survived in the crash.
