At the heart of the story is Sofia Verbyana, a young, gifted detective who, upon graduating from the academy, takes up a post in the police force as head of the Serious Crimes Unit. She is full of enthusiasm, ready to stand up for the truth, sharp-witted, honest and principled. But due to her lack of experience, she often makes mistakes and appears unsure of herself. Meeting forensic pathologist Pavlo becomes yet another challenge for her. He is reserved, blunt in his speech and straightforward. Despite difficulties in communicating, Sofia and Pavlo successfully solve the most complex crimes. And perhaps, without realising it themselves, they begin to feel something deeper than professional interest.
