As a result of the shooting, a 38-year-old operative of the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sergei Nikonov suffers a severe spinal injury. Sergei's legs are paralyzed, and he can only move around in a wheelchair. To distract from his personal tragedy and to cope with depression, Sergei organizes an unofficial department for the investigation of criminal offenses in his apartment.
